Changing Forms

I see you sometimes

In the curve of my cheekbone

The shape of my nose

My child’s deep brown eyes

Like there’s a part of you

Everywhere I go

As if you haven’t left

Only changed your form

I looked down from the mountain

I looked up at the sky

How can you already have gone?

It seems you had just arrived.

I know this place is a temporary home

But I miss you. I just wanted you to know.

I see you sometimes

In the moments of my life

The victories, the strife

There’s a part of you

Everywhere I go

I think of you feeling as I do

And I feel less alone

I looked down from the mountain

I looked up at the sky

How can you already have gone?

It seemed you had just arrived.

I know this place is a temporary home

But I miss you. I just wanted you to know.

Thank you for the life you lived

Thank you for sharing your gifts

Thank you for everything

I know this form is a temporary home

But I love you. I just wanted you to know.
