Shelter

Hands that build

Arms that hold

Dreams we share

Trials we bear

If a tree falls alone in a forest

Does it make a sound?

A home we made

A love we gave

Wings and songs

Rights and wrongs

When I think of you

I think of shelter

A place to rest my head

A caring man

A warm bed

Pain goes in and out

Like the tide

Battered by the hurricane

The shelter remains

Our home was built

From dreams broken apart

And reconfigured

A brave, tainted venture

The heart longs for home

And we create it

With our four hands

And two hearts

Together and apart

Hearts get broken

And pieced together

In new ways

Like this home

This shelter we have made
