The Human Dream: A Monologue
This is Universal Studios in Orlando Florida.
These settings are designed to draw you into a world that started as a daydream in someone’s
mind.
Not unlike the settings in which you now find yourself as you travel the road of your human journey.
By means of our senses, we experience a world that is brightly colored and highly engaging. It feels incredibly real and even permanent, despite the fact we know it’s not built to last.
So often, we don’t see the world for what it is. Instead, we constantly project our fear and desire on the images before our eyes.
Like a funhouse mirror or a Dr. Seuss world, our experience is distorted by the strength of our projections.
Our fear and desire tell us we need certain things and those who would capitalize on our interests are more than happy to sell them to us.
There is always just one more thing needed for us to reach completion. One more thing for us to be satisfied. One more drink. One more day. One more woman. One more man. One more comma in our ledger.
Until one day we finally realize the truth. We will never be satisfied. It will never, ever be enough.
So long as we are running from fear or chasing desire, we might as well be stuck on a carousel. Our castle begins to look an awful lot like a prison.
The day we realize this is the day we start to wake up from the human dream.
After this,
Life starts to become less about what we see, and more about how we see it.
Life starts to be less about what we do and more about how we do it.
Fear and desire are demoted from master status and recognized as indicators, showing us where we need to let go and pointing the way toward deep spiritual growth.
So when they tell you to put plastic in your body or bow down to the god of money or run away from a lesson that is uncomfortable but needed, don’t listen.
Master yourself. Pursue inner freedom fiercely. Let the spark of challenge feed the flame that burns down your prison walls.
And, above all, don’t believe the lie that you are alone or incomplete.
It’s the opposite. When you aspire to awaken, everything conspires to assist you on that path.
Like a series of alarm clocks going off, each trigger is an opportunity to wake up right where you are. You are not alone. You are infinitely supported.
Whatever trip you are taking,
Whatever ride you are on,
Whatever ticket you bought,
You can choose to wake up from the human dream at any time. You can confidently claim your freedom in this moment or the next.
It’s your journey. It’s your ride. Open your eyes. Or don’t. It’s up to you.
